After a three-month national search for an additional Research Analyst, we concluded that the ideal candidate was already near at hand. Eileen Bevis, a PhD student in sociology at the University of Chicago and a freelance analyst for Slover Linett since mid-2009, joins the team full time next week.
Bevis, who brings the firm’s complement of Research Analysts up to three, has received rigorous training in all stages of social science research. In her master’s and doctoral work, she has investigated the intersection of moral beliefs and behavior and institutional structures using advanced qualitative and quantitative techniques.
She has also taught sociology, methods, and related courses to undergraduates at the University of Chicago and served as a thesis preceptor for Public Policy Studies majors.
Bevis did her own undergraduate work at Williams College, where she earned her B.A. magna cum laude double-majoring in sociology and mathematics. She was sponsored by the Austrian-American Fulbright Commission to teach in Austria in 2003–04.
“I am very excited to be joining this team,” she says, “and looking forward to participating more fully in Slover Linett’s collaborative research process. Working with everyone these last six months as a freelancer, I’ve found the collective level of rigorous and creative thinking to be off the charts.”
Bevis has already contributed crucial analysis and insights to studies for Slover Linett clients such as the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, Minnesota Orchestra, and Seattle-based multi-arts nonprofit One Reel.
Managing partner Cheryl Slover-Linett was delighted to hear that Bevis was interested in joining the firm on a full-time basis, despite her continuing academic work. “We had already met some outstanding candidates, but the more we worked with Eileen, the clearer the choice became. She’s a remarkable combination of intensive thinker and fun teammate.”
Bevis will work on research projects in all three of Slover Linett’s client areas (performing arts, higher ed, and museums) and on both qualitative and quantitative studies.
She can be reached by phone at (773) 348-9201 and by email at eileen@sloverlinett.com.
